Can I visit your club as an observer?
Yes, visitors and guests are welcome at all of our meetings. You may
join us as a silent observer or you may choose to participate in
the impromptu
speaking session of our meeting that is called “Table Topics”.
We suggest that you visit a few meetings prior to joining in order to
get to know the chapter and to develop an understanding of what Toastmasters
is all about.
How do I join the Boston Speech Party (BSP)?
The BSP is open to everyone. To join you must fill out an application
and pay dues and joining fees.
Are all the chapters the same?
Each chapter of Toastmasters is unique and has a different personality.
Visiting the chapters in your locality will help you to find a chapter
that fits your needs.
What are meetings like?
We highly recommend that you visit a meeting so that you may gain an
understanding of how meetings are structured. There is no obligation
to speak when you
visit a meeting; you may visit as a silent observer or volunteer to participate
in the Table Topics portion of the meeting.
What do I do as a member?
The first step for members is to work towards completing the CTM or Competent
Toastmaster Award by completing the 10 speeches (5-7 minutes) contained
in the Communications and Leadership Manual. Each speech is designed
to help you develop a different aspect of public speaking and speech
preparation.
In addition to delivering speeches, members are encouraged to participate
in meetings by signing up for roles and taking part in the Table Topics
session of the meeting.
Where are meetings held? What time do meetings begin?
Meetings are held in the large reading room at Fisher College, 116
Beacon St, from 6-7:30 PM on the 2nd and 4th Weds. of the month,
unless otherwise
announced.
How much are dues?
Dues are collected semi-annually and are $30.00 every 6 months (or
$60 per year). In addition to semi-annual dues, joining fees exist
in the
amount of $22.00. Dues are prorated depending on the month you
join; visit the
membership fees page to determine how much your initial dues will be.
